Right to Repair

Wheelchair Right to Repair to become law in Colorado

The legislation requires powered wheelchair manufacturers to release spare parts, software, firmware, documentation, and necessary tools to independent repair shops and individual owners of wheelchairs. Violations will be considered a deceptive trade practice and incur a $20,000 fine. Governor Polis is expected to sign the bill into law soon.

This will be the first non-vehicular Right to Repair law in the U.S, and will help build momentum to increase all repair access.
