“We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of former Senator Jim Jeffords, a true champion for clean air and a greener future. From passing the landmark 1990 Clean Air Act, to introducing bills to reduce pollution from power plants and combat global warming, to his work to promote green buildings, to his efforts to protect the public from mercury and other toxic chemicals, Senator Jeffords went beyond party lines to fight for what was right for Vermont and our country. Our air is cleaner and our children’s lives are healthier thanks to his leadership.”
