Congrats to the solar photo contest winners!

By Rob Sargent
Senior Director, Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy

You may remember, a few months ago we asked you to send in your best photos for our solar photo contest. Many inspiring pictures were submitted.  It was difficult to pick a winner.

But, I’m excited to announce today that we’ve chosen the winners of the contest.

Please join me in congratulating the winners!

1st place – Seth Finch of Pittsburgh, PA

We were inspired by Seth’s story about installing solar panels at the Kingsley Association in Pittsburgh. He says that by installing solar, the Kingsley Association has educated their members and the community about clean energy technology. By taking first, Seth gets to have lunch with Environment America’s executive director, Margie Alt.

2nd place – Steven Gilbert of Seattle, WA

Steven gave us ten great reasons as to why he installed solar on his home in Seattle. The number one reason for was his granddaughters’ future. Steven won $200, which he decided to donate back to Environment America Research & Policy Center.

3rd place – Kris Basel of Tucson, AZ

Kris’ photo blended the beauty of Tucson, Arizona with the power of rooftop solar. In her view, the transition to renewable energy means a bright future. We agree. Kris won $100 for third place.

4th place – Abraham Rozman of Albion, NY

Abraham took this photo of the Dawes Glacier in Alaska in June 2015. Abraham supports using solar energy as an alternative to fossil fuels, which continue to contribute to global warming and cause glaciers like these to melt. Abraham won $50 and an Environment America t-shirt.

Thank you to everyone who participated.  Your photos were all a reminder of why we push for clean energy!

Note: Photos were judged by Rob Sargent, Environment America; Bret Fanshaw, Environment America; Vikram Aggarwal, EnergySage; Danny Kennedy, CalCEF.
