When electricity demand peaks, Californians should be able to draw backup power from electric car batteries. All electric vehicles (EVs) sold in California should come standard with the option to provide power to homes for hours after the sun goes down. These “batteries on wheels” can help avoid blackouts and promote an easier transition to clean energy in California. Tell your state legislators to support SB 233 this summer so that EV batteries can help keep the lights on in California and support the electric grid.
