From Fort Collins to Glenwood Springs to Pueblo, Environment Colorado’s Clean Car Associate Kelsey Maxwell made her way across the Centennial State this summer, and recently shared her experience for National Drive Electric Week.
On her journey, Kelsey met with Coloradans to discuss the environmental, economic and public health benefits of electric vehicles, and she even test drove a Tesla. As fun as her test drive was, Kelsey writes that her favorite part of her trip was meeting electric vehicle owners along the way and learning their reasons for transitioning to low- or no-emission vehicles. One woman decided to switch after having to move from Denver to Golden due to increased sensitivity to dirty air.
“Although most community members I connected with were aware of Colorado’s air pollution problem, citing lack of visibility in urban centers or hazy days in the summer months from nearby wildfires, few people realized just how bad the air in Colorado can be,” wrote Kelsey.
Environment Colorado is working to defend clean car and fuel efficiency standards and to put more zero-emission vehicles on the road.
