President Donald Trump announced today via Twitter that he has accepted the resignation of embattled Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt.

In response, Garrett Garner-Wells, the director of Environment Colorado released this statement:

“It took an endless stream of ethical lapses for Scott Pruitt to lose his job, but he never should have had that position in the first place, nor kept it as long as he did, given his actions to undermine core environmental protections such as clean air and clean water.

“The biggest scandal of Scott Pruitt’s tenure was not his soundproof booth, first-class travel or tactical pants — it was his failure to protect Americans, including Coloradans, from pollution, and the correlating health and environmental risks.”
