Tell Illinois legislators: Protect birds and bees from toxic seeds

We need to protect pollinators from pesticides. But because of a loophole in federal law that’s copied in state law, the unregulated use of neonic-coated seeds is killing bees and other pollinators. A single seed treated with neonicotinoids (neonics) can kill a songbird. And from planting to bloom, these seeds are harmful to bees.

In many cases, neonics aren’t even necessary to deal with a pest problem. Seed companies coat common seeds in neonics by default, and farms end up using them whether they need to or not.

We shouldn’t tolerate neonic-coated seeds in our soil, poisoning the world around us and killing the very pollinators that help our crops to grow. Urge your legislators to support the Birds and Bees Act and protect pollinators in Illinois.
