I want to do something to protect the environment

Amani Azeem
Environment Illinois Marketing Intern

Ever since I was a child, I have always had a love and fascination for the outdoors. I have long enjoyed going on long walks, hikes, bike rides and learning about different plant and animal species and their habitats whether in my backyard or beyond. When it came down to what I wanted to do in a career, I always knew I wanted to do something to protect this environment. Then in college, I learned that I really enjoyed social outreach and marketing, skills I further developed through job and volunteer opportunities. I am excited to intern with Environment Illinois as it is a way to combine both of my passions of social outreach and environmental advocacy and protection.

I am eager to collaborate and learn from a diverse team of individuals and gain more experience in the field. I am looking forward to collaborating with those who share a common drive and passion for protecting the environment, wildlife and our planet’s natural resources. I strive to raise awareness of the many environmental solutions that are possible. Through this work I hope to garner attention and action to implement solutions to the environmental problems we face.

I know a lot of people are becoming disheartened by the catastrophic environmental news we see almost every day. It is important to me to educate and provide calls to action to our community so that people can focus their own desire to help into the many solutions that are possible through collaboration and action. Most of all, I hope to meaningfully contribute to environmental campaigns that will make a lasting positive impact on our people, wildlife, and environment.
