Tell your U.S. senators: Protect our oldest trees

Old-growth forest is priceless. These rare pockets of habitat where trees have survived to grow old and tall are some of the last truly wild places in our country.

Old forests are both beautiful and inspiring — but their true value runs even deeper. Old-growth forests are critical buffers against climate change because they absorb and sequester large amounts of carbon dioxide. Old, large trees are also better than younger forests at resisting wildfires.

The Forest Service’s proposed nationwide forest plan amendment would advance vital protections for old-growth forests, ensuring these priceless habitats will survive for generations to come. I strongly urge you to oppose legislation that would prevent the Forest Service from finalizing these important protections.
