Environment America Statement on the nomination of Kathleen Hartnett White by Executive Director, Margie Alt:

“With fatal wildfires wracking California and other states in the west and record hurricanes wreaking havoc on Puerto Rico and Texas and other coastal areas — both exacerbated by longterm trends linked to global warming —  the idea of a climate denier running the Council on Environmental Quality is beyond absurd.

“Kathleen Hartnett White’s track record as an environmental regulator in Texas was beyond dismal.  Her decisions showed her disregard for science and for the health of Texas families.

“Amongst a series of terrible appointments to environmental agencies by President Trump this one is amongst the worst.  Here’s hoping the Senate has enough sense to reject this nomination.”
