Tell the FWS: Bring sea otters back

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Martha Williams,

We, the undersigned, urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to move forward with the process of reintroducing sea otters to Oregon’s coast. Without sea otters, purple sea urchin populations — which sea otters once kept in check — are exploding. Every day, they mow down underwater kelp forests vital to slowing climate change.

In 2022, the USWFS concluded that reintroducing sea otters to the Oregon coast was feasible, and we need to bring them back to bring our ecosystem back into balance. We urge the USFWS to move forward swiftly with the next steps to reintroduce sea otters to the Oregon coast.

Sincerely,
