Tell Portland City Council: It’s time to phase out gas-powered leaf blowers

Dear Portland City Council,

I am deeply concerned about climate change as well as the harmful health effects of air pollution. One surprisingly large contributor to both problems is gas-powered lawn and garden equipment. Using a commercial gas-powered leaf blower for just one hour emits as much smog-forming pollution as driving 1,100 miles.

Cleaner, quieter electric tools that get the job done are readily available so we no longer have to tolerate so much harmful pollution — and noise — when maintaining our gardens and landscapes.

I support phasing out the dirtiest gas-powered lawn and garden equipment, starting with gas-powered leaf blowers, so we can cut greenhouse gasses and air pollution.
