Tell the EPA: Protect the Delaware River

Staff | TPIN

I am writing in regards to the EPA public comment under Docket EPA-HQ-OW-2023-0222-0001, and call on the EPA to take the strongest steps possible to reduce the pollution that threatens native fish like the endangered Atlantic Sturgeon found in the Delaware River.

Each year, more than 15 billion gallons of untreated sewage and stormwater runoff pollute the Delaware River, reducing oxygen levels that fish need to breathe. While the EPA’s current proposal takes an important step in the right direction, it doesn’t go far enough to ensure that pollution levels are reduced to the levels needed to protect native species in the Delaware River.

Please ensure that oxygen levels are always sufficient to allow species like the Atlantic Sturgeon to survive, and require monthly assessments to ensure the river is safe for wildlife.
