As director of Environment New Jersey, Doug has led campaigns to fast-track New Jersey’s clean energy economy via offshore wind, solar and energy efficiency programs, to rejoin New Jersey in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) program, oppose the expansion of fossil fuel projects, and expand electric vehicles across the state. He has also led campaigns focused on New Jersey’s drinking water quality and protection of the state’s watershed lands. Doug serves on the boards of the Work Environment Council, and the Environmental Endowment of New Jersey and is the president of ChargEVC, an electric vehicle coalition. He was recognized by EPA Region II with an Environmental Quality Award in 2012.

New Jersey Wind Port Will Help New Jersey Reach a 100% Clean, Renewable Energy Future

Today, New Jersey announced the development of the New Jersey Wind Port, the first port in the country to be built specifically for offshore wind marshalling and manufacturing. The port will be sited in the Lower Alloway Creek area in Salem County on Artificial Island next to the Hope Creek Nuclear Generation site. The project is a significant step to bring an offshore wind supply chain to New Jersey and put New Jersey on the path to a 100% clean, renewable energy future.

In a move that will speed up New Jersey’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs), Gov. Phil Murphy announced today the New Jersey Partnership to Plug-In. The new initiatives include creating an EV rebate program and directing millions of dollars toward installing EV charging stations.

While the United States is reeling from worsening wildfires and extreme weather, the success of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is helping counter the climate change-denying policies emanating from inside the Beltway. Today, RGGI, Inc. Chairman Ben Grumbles, Maryland’s Secretary of the Environment, headlined a webinar promoting the release of a new report, From Pollution to Solutions: Maximizing Clean Energy Progress from State Carbon-Pricing Investments, from Environment America Policy and Research Center. The webinar panelists discussed case studies of how to successfully invest RGGI revenues.
