Dallas leaders ask Sen. Johnson to vote no on HB 5

The Dow Freeport chemical plant, a recipient of a "Chapter 313" tax abatement, released 4,910,328 tons of greenhouse gas pollution in 2021

We joined with over two dozen Dallas area elected officials and community leaders in asking Sen. Nathan Johnson to oppose HB 5, which would subsidize polluters while discriminating against wind and solar energy. We wrote that the bill was bad for the environment, noting that “in 2021, recipients of chapter 313 agreements dumped more than 100 million tons of pollution into Texas skies. HB 5 would continue to subsidize polluters while removing clean, renewable energy from eligibility.”
