Twenty-eight mayors and city staff logged on to discuss how their cities can harness more of the sun’s power.
On Oct. 11, The Solar Foundation and The National League of Cities joined us in hosting a webinar featuring solar success stories and resources that cities can use to go solar. Representatives from Orlando, Florida; Freeport, Illinois; and Bozeman, Montana, shared how their cities have set ambitious solar goals, and taken strides towards them. Go Solar Campaign Associate Emma Searson represented Environment America and our national network.
“Cities are centers of energy demand and have millions of rooftops and infrastructure ready for solar panels,” said Emma. “We’re helping cities take the next step by building the visibility, support and resources they need to go solar through our Mayors for Solar Energy project, and this educational webinar was one piece of that effort.”
Mayors for Solar Energy currently includes almost 200 cities across 46 states.
