Tell President Biden: Do more for our Southern Resident orcas

Dear President Biden,

Of all the animals in the Pacific Northwest, orcas are one of the most iconic — and they’re starving. Fewer than 80 remain today and they are at risk of going extinct without urgent action. To save them, we need to save their primary food source: the Chinook salmon.

The Snake River, located in the Columbia River Basin, is one of the most important rivers in the Pacific Northwest for salmon spawning. However, salmon runs have dropped by 90 percent since dams were constructed on it. I support restoring the lower Snake River by removing the dams, helping to restore the salmon that orcas need to survive and thrive.

Thank you for your commitments to restore critical salmon populations in the Columbia River Basin. We encourage your continued support and future action in making these commitments a reality.

Sincerely,
