Wisconsin advocates call for electric vehicle infrastructure

Wisconsinites are calling for more electric and public transportation, not less.

Wisconsinites are calling for more electric and public transportation, not less.

On June 24, Wisconsin Environment joined state Rep. Christine Sinicki, Wisconsin Health Professionals for Climate Action and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to advocate for reducing pollution, limiting vehicle emissions, and investing in electric vehicle infrastructure and public transportation at the state level. Their calls come as some Wisconsin legislators impose fees on electric and hybrid vehicles and cut funding for public transportation in Milwaukee and Madison.

“We cannot ignore the massive impact that transportation has on our emissions,” said Wisconsin Environment Director Megan Severson. “With clean electric cars and buses, as well as safe streets for walking and biking and more transit options, we can really take a big bite out of Wisconsin’s contribution to climate change.”

Wisconsin Environment is also working to make it easier for more Wisconsinites to drive electric vehicles by calling for the installation of more public charging stations across the state.
