House Bill 24-1030 Railroad Safety Requirements is now law. It mandates that rail companies enhance safety training, incident data collection, and emergency response procedures. Additionally, it will create Colorado’s first Office of Rail Safety and a Rail Safety Advisory Committee to boost train inspection capabilities and data reporting.

By implementing these measures and others, the bill aims to reduce the risk of accidents and keep Colorado safe from environmental catastrophes like the recent derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
