WHAT: In celebration of Earth Month, Environment Florida Research & Policy Center will hold a “Renewable Energy Roundtable” at Florida State University to discuss the technology, infrastructure and policies needed to transition to a society completely powered by renewable sources.
The roundtable will include experts from both FSU and Florida A&M, and student leaders from Tallahassee’s college campuses. They will reinforce that in the not-too-distant future, we can generate 100 percent of our energy from renewable power sources – and that colleges and universities should play a leadership role as Tallahassee and Florida transition away from fossil fuels. Panelists will also include State Rep. Anna Eskamani (D-Orlando), the sponsor of the State Renewable Energy Goals bill (HB1352), which would set a framework for that transition. Just six weeks ago, Tallahassee became the seventh city to commit to a clean, renewable energy future. And just two weeks ago, New Mexico became the third state to make such a commitment.
