Today, advocates for offshore wind delivered the Biden administration a letter signed by more than fifty environmental and labor organizations, applauding the administration’s prioritization of offshore wind and to urge continued federal leadership to unlock America’s vast offshore wind’s potential.

The letter urged the administration to pursue a “whole-of-government commitment” to offshore wind, accelerate the development of a domestic supply chain; and strengthen regional coordination.

Wind never runs out,” said Johanna Neumann, Senior Director of Environment America Research & Policy Center’s Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy. “It makes no sense to keep polluting our air, despoiling land and contaminating water to create electricity, when we can  power America many times over by harnessing the rays of the sun, the strength of the wind, and the heat of the earth.”

Construction of America’s first two commercial-scale offshore wind farms is currently underway.
