Washington, D.C. — One week after Senator Vitter (R-LA) and other Republican senators on the Senate Committee for Environment & Public Works boycotted her initial scheduled committee vote, the EPW Committee today advanced Gina McCarthy’s nomination for Environmental Protection Agency Administrator to the full Senate. Anna Aurilio, Washington, D.C., office director for Environment America, issued the following statement:

“Today, Americans moved one step closer to having Gina McCarthy protect our health and environment as head of the Environmental Protection Agency. McCarthy’s stellar track record of delivering real results for clean air and clean water—under Republican and Democratic administrations alike—should make her Senate approval a foregone conclusion, and we urge the full Senate to move quickly to confirm her.”
