A national cross-section of 166 Congressional members delivered a letter today to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer urging them to act on important federal clean energy  incentives before adjourning for the year. The letter calls for updates and extensions of programs to support wind, solar, energy storage, electric vehicles and energy efficiency.

Environment America’s Clean Energy Program Director Rob Sargent made the following statement:

“We are encouraged to see so many members of Congress from every part of the country demand swift action in updating important federal clean energy incentives. We’re counting on legislative leaders to hear this call and take action immediately.

“The last decade has proven that clean energy can power American homes, businesses and industry — and has put America on the cusp of a dramatic shift away from polluting energy sources. Clean energy tax incentives are key to this progress. Moving forward, they will be critical for accelerating progress on wind and solar energy, as well as other technologies, such as energy storage, electric vehicles and energy efficiency, that enable the clean energy revolution.

“By making a comprehensive shift to clean energy, we can show the American people that we are serious about reducing the pollution that alters our climate.  For the sake of our health and the well-being of our communities, we need to immediately update and extend these important programs.”
