Event recap: Portlanders explored and took action to protect the Owyhee Canyonlands

We gave folks and opportunity to experience Oregon’s hidden treasure without leaving Portland.

In the remote, southeastern corner of Oregon lies a hidden treasure of colorful canyons, sweeping seas of sagebrush steppe, rambling rivers and snaking streams where recreation opportunities abound.

More than 50 people joined Environment Oregon, Oregon League of Conservation Voters and Friends of the Owyhee for an evening celebrating the Owyhee Canyonlands with first-hand accounts from the people that know it best — including hiking, rafting and local experts and advocates working to protect it for future generations.

We featured a 3D illusion art installation that helped folks imagine what it’s like to stand on the rim of the canyon, people took action to protect the Owyhee and some lucky folks even walked away with outdoor gear courtesy of Next Adventure.

This event was free and open to the public, with light refreshments.
