Environment America endorses re-election of US Rep. Ed Case

DENVER – Environment America announced Thursday it is endorsing U.S. Rep. Ed Case for re-election in Hawai’i’s 1st Congressional District. In addition to being a ‘green champion’, Rep. Case is one of those increasingly rare, pragmatic “get-it-done” Congress members who is willing and able to work across the aisle to pass legislation.

Rep. Case has helped protect Hawai’i’s coral reefs, secured funding for world-leading climate change research at the Mauna Loa Observatory and introduced the Hawai’i Invasive Species Act to protect the archipelago’s unique ecosystems, natural resources and agricultural communities from the crippling effects of invasive species. He also co-sponsored comprehensive legislation to tackle plastic pollution.

“As a Congressman from Hawai’i, Ed Case knows just how important the environment is, especially the ocean,” said Lisa Frank, the executive director of Environment America’s Washington Legislative Office. “We look forward to him returning to Congress for at least two more years so he can continue to advocate for the issues so important to Hawai’ians.”

Beyond his Hawai’i-specific work, through Rep. Case’s roles on the House Natural Resources Committee, the Appropriations Committee and the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, he advances conservation and clean energy priorities.
