Environment Maryland endorses Brooke Lierman for state comptroller

BALTIMORE – Environment Maryland announced Monday that it is endorsing Brooke Lierman for Maryland state comptroller. With Lierman as the state’s chief accountant, we trust that Maryland’s finances will be in the hands of someone with environmental policy expertise, which is important for the health and well-being of Maryland’s families.

Maryland has made monumental strides over the past several years toward sustainability, from enacting one of the nation’s strongest laws to reduce climate pollution to establishing the nation’s first foam food packaging ban. But Maryland can be doing more.

“Brooke Lierman has a strong record as a leader on environmental issues including transportation, energy and waste reduction in the state Legislature. So, we can trust and be excited by the vision she will bring to the Office of the Comptroller,” said Emily Scarr, Environment Maryland’s senior advisor. “Maryland’s comptroller has more environmental responsibilities than you might initially think. And Environment Maryland is eager to work with her to ensure that investments in climate resilient infrastructure, clean, efficient energy production and public transportation are expanded and expedited. ”
