What’s Halloween without pumpkins, chocolate or candied apples? Pretty scary, says a new Environment America video released just in time to give weekend revelers a fright. Thanks to massive recent declines in bee colonies, these Halloweens staples along with 70 percent of 100 of the world’s most common crops are at risk.
The solution? The U.S. should place a moratorium on neonicotinoids, or neonics, the class of pesticides linked with massive bee deaths that the European Union has banned and that Lowes, Home Depot, and other major corporations have agreed to limit.
