Sen. Ed Markey is The Green New Dealmaker we need in the Senate now more than ever
Senator Ed Markey was a climate leader long before it was popular. And because he is a leader we can trust to do right by our environment, Environment America Action Fund, along with a cohort of allies, has been working to make sure he wins another term in the United States Senate. See how we have been making the case to voters in The Commonwealth.
Environment America’s longstanding commitment to pro-environment candidates and causes
In 2020, in addition to our work in support of now President-elect Joe Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, and Senator Ed Markey, we made certain that environmental voters in Pennsylvania had the tools and confidence they needed to vote safely this year. Combining old-fashioned people power with modern outreach technology, we educated thousands of people by phone and by text about how they could both register to vote, and vote by mail, this past fall. Between August and November of 2020, Environment America Action Fund, in coordination with our in-state partner group PennEnvironment, made over 4.5 million attempts by phone and text to reach voters across the Keystone State.
In 2018, Environment America Action Fund’s GreenHouse Project delivered nearly 600,000 pieces of direct mail, 12 million digital ad impressions, and tens of thousands of live phone calls to a targeted universe of environmentally motivated, persuadable voters. We selected ten races in which voters had a clear choice between a solid, pro-environment candidate and a candidate with a record of opposing protections for clean air, clean water, and sincere climate action. Eight of those candidates made it to Congress and have been making good on their promises.
Since 2008, Environment America Action Fund, in coordination with its partner groups, knocked on more than 5.8 million doors across 16 states and held more than 2.2 million conversations with voters, with the goal of building support for candidates who stand up for the environment, and the causes they represent.
