ATLANTA – The only nuclear reactors under construction in the United States are now projected to cost more than $30 billion -- and the price tag for Plant Vogtle near Augusta, Georgia, doesn’t even include $3.68 billion that the project’s original contractor paid to the owners after going bankrupt.

As California seeks to secure a 100% renewable electricity grid to address the climate crisis, the California Energy Commission (CEC) has released their initial Offshore Wind report with goals of 3,000 MW of offshore wind energy by 2030 and 10,000 to 15,000 MW by 2045 with a potential of 20,000 MW by 2050, with sufficient technological improvements.

Exercising his first veto of the 2022 legislative session, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday vetoed HB 741, a bill that would have gutted net metering in Florida. Net metering is the policy which compensates solar owners for the excess electricity they generate and then sell back to the grid.

BOSTON -- Lead contamination of school drinking water is more pervasive than previously thought, according to testing data from across the nation published on Thursday by Environment America Research & Policy Center and U.S. PIRG Education Fund on a new interactive map. The groups urged public officials to take swift action to “get the lead out” of schools’ drinking water.

Statement: Macon-Bibb County cuts ties with Brightmark, signaling an end to the world’s largest plastic-to-fuel project

MACON – The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) ended its relationship last week with Brightmark, a company that was working to build the world’s largest plastics-to-fuel facility just north of the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. The Macon Newsroomobtained a termination contract via an open records request that showed Brightmark's much smaller Indiana facility  had failed to deliver proof of concept.
