Meet our new Dallas City Hall Advocate
He's working for solar energy, electric vehicles, and more

I’m pleased to introduce Ian Seamans, Environment Texas’ new City Hall Advocate for Dallas and north Texas.
A graduate of UT Dallas (where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in International Political Economy), Ian worked at the university’s Office of Sustainability and the League of Women Voters (where he continues as a board member of LWV Texas) before joining Environment Texas. A Texas Master Naturalist, Ian delights in working to restore native prairies and transitioning lawns to native and adapted plants.
Ian’s first priorities are getting the city of Dallas to streamline the permitting process for rooftop solar, educating North Texans about federal funding available to save money through home efficiency projects, and supporting greater use of electric vehicles (Ian’s quoted in this E&E News story about the city of Dallas buying more EVs for their fleet). He’ll also be looking for additional ways we can support cleaner air and water, parks and wildlife, and a livable climate for North Texas.
Ian is the first of several City Hall Advocates we are working to hire around the state, as part of our new municipal advocacy program. As Texas’ biggest cities are bigger than the populations of many states, we can have a big impact at the local level.
